Hello there, and congratulations - you have booked a pregnancy photoshoot with Nordic Tales Photography… and you are probably wondering what to expect?

If you have followed me on social media for a while, you probably know, that I have a big hate for studio photography. Most of my pregnancy photoshoots are done outdoors. The surrounding serves as important anchor in our memories, of this phase in your life, that is probably going to be one of the most significant all.

So no matter in what season you are pregnant, we will find a beautiful setting to capture what’s important: The the love, the longing and the new little human inside you, that soon will join us in this world - in the most beautiful setting, that Stockholm and surroundings have to offer!

Many of my clients are worried at first, when they think about their pregnancy photoshoot, outdoors, in Swedish winter. But most discover - well, first of all, pregnancy often serve as ‘extra heating’ and they are not actually cold - and second of all, even in winter, Stockholm is oh so beautiful! On a perfectly snowy day, we will of course shoot outside, in nature. But even on these - more common - typical grey days, we have the city full of colour and corners, that serve as beautiful backdrop throughout the seasons.

Let me show you! :)

So many options to choose in summer and autumn, it’s almost hard to write about it. We won’t struggle to find a location - every month brings another highlight here in Stockholm. In June, I take a lot of sunset pregnancy shoots in the water and by the lake. In July, we are back in the city as all the stockroses start to bloom. In August and September, we are in the blooming gardens of Nyckelviken. And in October and November, we conclude the autumn season with the colourful leaves in Storängen or Djurgarden. Who can choose?

It’s the most frequently asked question and a concern - what can baby and I possibly wear?

To put it out there straight away (and you will recognise this on my pictures)… I love all nudes, beiges, whites! They make skin look beautiful, are classy and timeless and put the focus of the eye on what is important in the image: the face, the expression, the emotion!

The recommendation I give to everyone is to come in an outfit you feel comfortable with! Pick something without big patterns and in neutral colours, anything that is soft, maybe even knitted, something that hugs your and baby’s body! This is the time to show off your curves (I absolutely promise you: No matter how you feel about your body now, you will be beyond impressed with looking back!)

If colours are your thing, try to think of the backdrop we are shooting in! In spring, pastels work great, in summer, brighter colours and summer dresses are fantastic. In autumn, go for dark reds, mustard and brown to blend into your surroundings with a punch!

In a pregnancy photoshoot, your belly is the star - so don’t hesitate to push it out!! ;) I will advise you on the best angles for the shoot, but one thing is clear - we ALWAYS want to see your belly! More often than not, I will take pictures from the side to catch you in your profile, I will ask you to stand, sit, even lie - we will take it by what feels good (and also how your body allows you to move)!

I also encourage you to bring your partner or siblings, if already available! And while you and this cute belly are clearly the star of the show, we will also ask your partner and kids to join in to capture a beautiful family portrait at the same time. If you have followed my work on social media or looked at my website, you will find that my pictures remain quite natural, almost un-staged. I don’t overly brush pictures, there are no ‘magical’ edits that make you look like a (strange) magazine cover, this is not the intention and purpose of my work. We will aim to capture the emotion, the love and excitement for what is coming - in the most natural way possible.

If you want to bring probs, absolutely do! From ultrasound pictures to little shoes or items - everything that has a meaning to you, is more than welcome! :)

This was a lot of information to digest! So I want to close this of saying that I’m so looking forward to meet you, and to make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you!

If you have any questions in the meantime, just reach out - you can literally ask me anything!
